About Us!

The ThunderBirdz team is a new addition to Cabarrus County with the 2025 competition year being our inaugural year.  We are representative of the FIRST program,  formally known as For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, the first FRC team in our county, see more information below.

Students on team ThunderBirdz at Cox Mill High School have completed one FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) for high school students.  Our aim is to help young people discover and develop a passion for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The ultimate “Sport for the Mind" challenges students to build and program industrial-size robot to play a new game every year.  We encourage people to be open about their opinions when it comes to building and collaborating on the tasks of the robot and to be inclusive about all groups.  We encourage a family style team, if one of us struggles, we all pitch in to help them find a solution.

Bolt up for STEM!
